Meira warns: these coffees may contain metal
Coffee roaster Meira is recalling its Kulta Katriina traditional filter coffees due to the potential presence of metal shards in the products.
Meira, a Finnish coffee roasting company, has announced a recall of its Kulta Katriina traditional filter coffees after discovering that some packaged products may contain visible metal pieces. The company indicated that the fragments could have entered the coffee due to a malfunction in the packing machine's sieve. The recall affects six batches of half-kilogram coffee packages, with best before dates of August 23, 2027, August 24, 2027, August 26, 2027, September 1, 2027, and September 5, 2027.
In a statement, Meira reassured consumers that any metal pieces that might be present would remain trapped in the filter when brewed, meaning they would not end up in the coffee or be ingested. However, the company strongly advised against the consumption of these affected batches. Customers who purchased the affected Kulta Katriina products are being instructed to return them to the store for a refund, highlighting Meira's commitment to consumer safety and product quality.
This recall serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with food safety and the importance of rigorous quality control in food production. Meira's proactive communication and swift action to address the issue demonstrates their accountability and concern for consumer health, which is crucial in maintaining trust in their brand.
