Finnish Food Authority announces two recalls

The Finnish Food Authority has issued warnings about two product recalls involving muffins and chocolate bars due to potential packaging errors and contamination.

The Finnish Food Authority (Ruokavirasto) has announced two significant product recalls that concern consumer safety. The first recall involves muffins produced by Porokylän leipomo Oy; specifically, the Mansikkahoukutus-täytemuffinsseja, which may have been incorrectly packaged with Sitruunahoukutus-muffinsseja. Although the muffins are perfectly fine for consumption, the mislabeling could pose a risk to those with allergies or specific dietary restrictions as the packaging does not accurately reflect the product's contents. The affected muffins have best-before dates of March 1, 4, 6, and 8, 2026.

The second recall pertains to Marabou Japp chocolate bars produced by Modelez Finland. Some batches of these 160g chocolate bars, labeled with the best-before date of July 5, 2026 and the batch code OUV0254051, may contain hard plastic fragments. This contamination presents a direct health risk to consumers who purchase these chocolate bars. Both companies have emphasized the importance of consumer safety and are encouraging customers to return the affected products for a full refund.

The Finnish Food Authority has provided additional details and guidance on how consumers can check whether their products are affected by visiting their official website. These recalls highlight ongoing vigilance concerning food safety and the importance of accurate labeling in food production, aimed at protecting consumers from potential health hazards.
