Oswaldo Cruz Institute will manage the Maternity Hospital of Mogi das Cruzes
The city of Mogi das Cruzes has announced that the Municipal Maternity Hospital will now be administered by the Oswaldo Cruz Institute following a public announcement.
The Municipal Maternity Hospital and Women's and Children's Hospital of Mogi das Cruzes, also known as 'Leila Caran Costa,' will be managed by the Oswaldo Cruz Social Hospital Institute (Ishaoc). This decision was made public by the cityβs government on Friday, October 6, and follows Ishaoc's successful ranking in a public call for management proposals. On Thursday, October 5, the Institute was invited by the local Health and Welfare Department to make necessary adjustments to its prior proposal and finalize the terms of their agreement.
The announcement of this new management comes after a delay caused by an appeal made by the organization that ranked second in the public call for management. This appeal was presented on Monday, October 2, and may have impacted the timeline of the decision-making process. The Oswaldo Cruz Institute is recognized for its management of the renowned German Oswaldo Cruz Hospital in SΓ£o Paulo, as well as its involvement with other healthcare facilities in Santos, indicating a strong background in health service management.
This change in administration reflects ongoing efforts by the Mogi das Cruzes city government to enhance maternal and child healthcare services in the region. By entrusting the management of the Maternity Hospital to an established institution like the Oswaldo Cruz Institute, the city aims to improve the standard of care provided to its residents, thus ensuring better health outcomes for mothers and children in the community.
