This initiative has positioned the cooperative as a significant global player in sustainable innovation within the financial sector, highlighting the effective fusion of technology and environmental responsibility.

Notably, Sicoob Metropolitano became the first financial institution in Brazil to implement NFTs that represent areas of environmental preservation. This initiative integrates blockchain technology with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, showcasing a clear commitment to positively impacting the environment. The project was developed in collaboration with Preservaland, a startup led by Brazilian entrepreneurs in the U.S., which employs digital assets as a means to conserve forest areas.

The international recognition was further cemented by the exposure of their case at COP30, which significantly boosted its visibility on the global stage. The initiative was subsequently selected by the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) to be included in a showcase, emphasizing its potential as a model for sustainable financial practices that other institutions might pursue.
