In northern Guayaquil areas, more clearing and fumigation are requested in parks due to the rainy season

Residents in northern Guayaquil are calling for increased vegetation clearing and fumigation in parks as heavy rains have led to significant overgrowth and mosquito proliferation.

Residents of northern Guayaquil, especially around Samanes 4 and Guayacanes, have expressed concern over the state of local parks as heavy rains have caused rampant overgrowth of vegetation. This has led to access issues, particularly on George Lewis Capwell street, where the children's playground is now surrounded by thick weeds. Local resident Nadia Berroza highlighted the dangers posed by an increased mosquito population due to the overgrowth, noting that children have stopped using the playground due to the environment.

The problem extends to other local parks, including one on Galo Galecio street, where residents report similar conditions. The rainy season has exacerbated the growth of weeds, creating an unpleasant environment for families that use these public spaces. Furthermore, the unchecked vegetation draws in a larger number of mosquitoes, particularly in the late afternoon as temperatures rise, making these parks less safe and enjoyable for residents, particularly children.

The community is now urging local authorities to take action by increasing efforts to clear the greenery and fumigate the affected areas. This demand reflects a growing concern for public health and quality of life that varies among local communities, particularly in areas that are prone to flooding and overgrowth during the rainy season.
