Tulikivi plans to withdraw from Russia by early April - revenue fell last year

Finnish manufacturer Tulikivi announces plans to exit the Russian market by early April and reports a decline in revenue in the previous year.

Tulikivi, a Juuka-based public company specializing in manufacturing heat-retaining fireplaces, has announced its intention to withdraw from the Russian market by early April. This decision was disclosed in their financial statement. The company has indicated that the process of shutting down operations is progressing as planned, which includes terminating contracts and liquidating company assets. This move marks a significant pivot for Tulikivi, particularly following the broader context of the ongoing geopolitical tensions due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In a report from January, Yle stated that Tulikivi had continued its business activities in Russia through 2023 and 2025. However, this recent announcement signifies a definitive shift in its operations, aligning with the company's previous declarations from 2022 that they would scale back activities in Russia in response to the military conflict. The reduction in operations comes as many companies reevaluate their presence in Russia amidst the evolving sanctions and international pressures.

Alongside these operational changes, Tulikivi reported a decline in revenue of over 11% from the previous year, with its comparable operating profit plummeting from โ‚ฌ2.1 million to a loss of โ‚ฌ0.1 million. CEO Heikki Vauhkonen attributed this downturn to economic uncertainty, which has led consumers to postpone renovations and new construction projects. The combination of strategic withdrawal from Russia and the decline in domestic revenue reflects the challenges faced by the company in a dynamic and often turbulent market environment.
