Operation carries out more than 70 arrest warrants against group investigated for drug trafficking in Cabedelo
Over 70 arrest warrants were executed in Brazil for members of a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking and other serious crimes in Cabedelo.
The Civil Police of Brazil executed 75 arrest warrants targeting individuals suspected of being part of a criminal organization operating in Cabedelo, located within the Metropolitan Region of João Pessoa. This operation, named Restinga II, was launched on a Friday morning and also included 36 search and seizure warrants. The primary goal of this significant police action is to advance investigations and dismantle the criminal group's structure.
The suspects are being investigated for a variety of serious crimes, including drug trafficking, illegal arms dealing, and involvement in homicides, torture, and the corruption of minors. The Civil Police reported that the leadership of this criminal group allegedly coordinates its illegal activities from the state of Rio de Janeiro, suggesting a connection and reliance on the support of a larger criminal organization based in that region.
This operation highlights ongoing efforts by Brazilian law enforcement to combat organized crime and drug trafficking, which remain major issues in many urban areas, including Cabedelo. The involvement of higher-level crime syndicates from other states complicates the law enforcement landscape, indicating a broader network of illicit activity and the importance of inter-state cooperation in addressing these challenges.
