VIDEO: Sensitive Child in the Family: Understanding, Recognition, and Support

A lecture discussing sensory processing sensitivity in children and how parents can support sensitive children is part of Latvia's Child Mental Health Week.

The lecture focuses on the topic of sensory processing sensitivity in children, presenting research findings that help identify and recognize this trait in children's everyday behavior at home and school. It aims to educate parents on how to support sensitive children by fostering their emotional safety and helping them recognize and strengthen their temperament traits. Participants will gain practical recommendations for creating a nurturing environment for their sensitive child.

Taking place from March 2 to March 8, this year marks the sixth edition of the "Speak to Me" Child Mental Health Week, organized by the NGO "Debesmanna." The initiative seeks to enhance awareness among parents and caregivers regarding children's mental health, as well as provide information about available resources and places to seek help within Latvia. The event will feature free online sessions broadcasted on the Facebook and Instagram profiles of "Debesmanna" and its partners, making it accessible to a broader audience.

The focus on sensory processing sensitivity is crucial, as it acknowledges that different children may respond uniquely to stimuli in their environment. By providing education and resources during this mental health week, the organizers hope to foster better understanding and support systems for sensitive children, thereby improving their overall emotional and psychological well-being.
