The city sent a car left in the parking garage to the junkyard - years later, the owner demanded 5,500 euros
A car abandoned in a Helsinki parking garage was sent to a junkyard, leading its owner to claim 5,500 euros years later after failing to respond to notifications.
In early 2022, a driver abandoned their vehicle in a paid parking garage located in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, without returning to claim it. Records from the city of Helsinki indicate that the car remained at the Porkkalankatu 20 address for a total of four months. At this point, a representative from the garage made a request for the vehicle to be removed due to prolonged inactivity. Notably, the vehicle's inspection had expired years earlier, in the fall of 2019, and it was also without license plates. After a removal notice was placed on the car, it continued to sit until early August 2022, when the city transported it to a storage center in Tattarisuos.
