Weather forecasts indicate that next week, Latvia will enjoy warmer temperatures, peaking at +10 to +15 degrees Celsius on the warmest days. The weekend and the upcoming week are expected to feature frequent sunshine, though fog is likely at times, and there may be occasional rain. Winds will predominantly blow gently to moderately from the southwest.
In the immediate nights, temperatures are still expected to drop below freezing, with Latgale possibly seeing lows of -7 degrees on Saturday night. However, nights will gradually become milder next week. Daily maximum temperatures will often reach +10 to +15 degrees in the afternoons, with relatively cooler conditions expected along coastal areas where the wind comes from the cold sea, and also in locations with cloud cover that blocks sunlight.
According to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology, and Meteorology Center, the national temperature record for early March is +17.4 degrees, recorded on March 10 last year in Liepaja, while the record for the second decade of the month is +18.4 degrees from March 19, 1990, set in Daugavpils and SkrΔ«veri. It is anticipated that by mid-March, any remaining snow will have melted throughout Latvia, except in higher elevations.
