Preference for Future Leaders... Cho Kuk 9%, Kim Min-seok, Jang Dong-hyuk, Han Dong-hoon 4% [Gallup]

A recent survey reveals that Cho Kuk has the highest preference as a future political leader in South Korea, garnering 9% support.

A recent Gallup survey conducted from March 3 to 5 among 1,001 voters aged 18 and older in South Korea has disclosed that Cho Kuk, leader of the Justice Party, received 9% preference as the future political leader. Following him are Kim Min-seok, former Prime Minister, Jang Dong-hyuk, and Han Dong-hoon, all with 4% support. The findings underscore a lack of clear and prominent candidates across political divides, as 64% of respondents did not endorse a specific candidate.

The survey indicates a slight decline in support for both Cho and Kim when compared to a previous poll last December, suggesting changing dynamics in voter sentiment. Interestingly, the former Democratic Party leader, Song Yong-gil, who was recently reinstated in the party after being acquitted in a political corruption case, and Kang Hoon-sik, a close confidant of the President, have shown varying degrees of support. Cho’s strength lies among very conservative voters, while Han has a more even distribution across different political spectrums.

Responses regarding local election expectations reveal that 46% of participants feel that more ruling party candidates should win, while 30% indicate a preference for opposition candidates, showing a growing divide in opinion since last year. This data paints a complex picture of the political landscape in South Korea, highlighting the evolving preferences and sentiments of voters amid ongoing political developments.
