Korean Press Foundation recommends candidates for new executive directors: Kim Hyun-jun, Lim Seok-kyu, and Koo Yong-hwe
The Korean Press Foundation has officially recommended three candidates for the position of executive director to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
On June 6, the Korean Press Foundation held a board meeting where they decided to recommend three final candidates for the position of executive director to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The candidates include Kim Hyun-jun, who is currently the head of the management department, Lim Seok-kyu, head of the media department, and Koo Yong-hwe, head of the government advertising division. Each of these candidates has substantial experience in the media sector, with backgrounds that include significant roles in major Korean media organizations.
Kim Hyun-jun previously served as the head of the social affairs department and a managing director at Yonhap News Agency, and is currently a mediator at the Media Arbitration Commission. Lim Seok-kyu has held positions such as political editor and editor-in-chief at Hankyoreh, while Koo Yong-hwe has experience as the head of the social department and as the policy planning head at CBS. Their diverse professional backgrounds highlight a breadth of knowledge and expertise in the media landscape of Korea, making them strong contenders for the executive director role.
The final appointment of the executive director will follow the ministry's approval, and the chairman of the Korean Press Foundation will carry out the actual appointment. The term for this position is set for three years, giving the successful candidate significant time to influence media policy and oversee initiatives aimed at strengthening the foundations of journalism and media in South Korea.
