Newest Lethbridge police officers join force following graduation

Eight new police officers graduated from Lethbridge Polytechnic and will begin their service with the Lethbridge Police Service and CPKC Police Service.

Recently, eight police cadets graduated from a rigorous 23-week program at Lethbridge Polytechnic, marking a significant milestone in their journey to serve in law enforcement. The ceremony, held at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium, celebrated their dedication and achievements as they prepare to join the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) and the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Police Service. Among the graduates were individuals with varying backgrounds—from newcomers to the justice system to those with prior service experience.

One of the new officers, Faith Dore, expressed her pride and excitement about serving her community. She emphasized the hard work and commitment herself and her fellow cadets demonstrated throughout the past six months and highlighted the personal connection she feels to Lethbridge, stating that serving her community brings her great honor. Her sentiments reflect the depth of commitment among the graduates to not only uphold the law but to contribute positively to the area they grew up in.

This graduation not only strengthens the Lethbridge police force but also addresses ongoing community safety and security concerns. Transitioning from cadets to officers, these graduates are now tasked with the responsibilities that come with their new roles, which may influence community relationships and shaping a safer environment for residents while building trust between law enforcement and the local populace.
