The Klaipeda County Police have welcomed a new addition to their team, a three-month-old female German Shepherd named Orca. She has arrived from a kennel in Latvia and will be trained in various police duties, including tracking, search and rescue for missing persons, and drug detection. This addition highlights the ongoing commitment of the local police to enhance their capabilities and improve public safety in the coastal region of Lithuania.

The announcement comes at a time when the police force is expanding its resources, indicating an increased focus on various aspects of law enforcement. The police department has previously reported on the training of service dogs, including a recent incident in which a trained dog named Rafis discovered narcotics during training exercises in a local park. With Orca's addition, the police force is set to have a total of nine fully trained service dogs, alongside two additional ones, Orca and another German Shepherd named Grikis, who are currently undergoing preparation for active duty.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Klaipeda police to address not only crime prevention but also community safety and well-being.
