Television rights for the Ecuador national team will have a new model aimed at being more widespread

The president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation has announced plans for a new, broader model for the television broadcasting rights of the national team's games.

Francisco Egas, the president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF), has discussed the future of television broadcasting rights for the national football team's matches. He indicated that the current contract with El Canal del Fútbol (ECDF) will end after the last friendly match before the 2026 World Cup, which is scheduled for June 11. Egas emphasized the intention to construct a completely new model for the exploitation of these rights, intending to make announcements gradually in the near future.

The FEF president articulated a vision for a much broader and more encompassing model, stating the goal is for as many Ecuadorians as possible to watch their national team play, underscoring that the product of the national team should be accessible to everyone in the country. At the same time, he recognized the necessity for the federation to generate the revenue needed to continue financing its activities.

Egas’ remarks signal a significant shift in how football viewership could be structured in Ecuador, aiming not only to enhance access to games but also to ensure that the federation maintains the financial sustainability required for its ongoing commitments. This approach could potentially reshape sports broadcasting in the country and make national football a more community-oriented experience.
