3 Fundamental Pillars of Longevity – A Recipe for Good Health in Old Age

A report reveals that many Lithuanians are unaware of practices that can enhance longevity and health in old age, largely due to a lack of information.

A recent report highlights the interest among Lithuanians in enhancing longevity and health in old age, but reveals that a significant portion of the population remains uninformed about effective practices. According to a survey conducted by NSI, around 58% of Lithuanian residents have not tried any longevity practices that could potentially improve their lifespan and the quality of their later years. Eglė Laskauskaitė, head of pharmacy operations at Eurovaistinė, points out that while people express a desire for better health, only a small fraction consistently adopts habits that effectively counter biological aging.

The survey indicates a paradox where a large segment of the population is interested in gaining deeper knowledge about their health—44% deem it important, yet they do not engage in further research; 40% express interest but feel they lack sufficient information. This suggests that while there is awareness of the importance of health and longevity, the gap in knowledge and practical application persists. Laskauskaitė emphasizes that longevity should not be seen solely as a matter of genetics or advanced technologies; it fundamentally involves daily choices and habits that contribute to a healthier, longer life.

The findings underline the necessity for increased public education and accessible information regarding health practices that lead to longevity. These insights may encourage health professionals and policymakers in Lithuania to prioritize initiatives that disseminate knowledge about effective health behaviors, empowering individuals to take actionable steps towards enhancing their longevity and life quality as they age.
