Cattle rescued from a burning ship at São Sebastião port are receiving care at Estância Monte Alegre and reportedly doing well.

Cattle that were rescued from a burning ship at the Port of São Sebastião in São Paulo are now receiving care at Estância Monte Alegre, a renowned confinement farming center in Barretos. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 3rd, when over 2,600 cattle destined for export to Turkey were impacted by the fire. Although 450 of these cattle had already been loaded onto the ship, the unforeseen incident required their return to safety at the original farm location in Barretos.

Despite the successful rescue efforts, three of the bovines unfortunately died while waiting at the port, with the Agricultural and Livestock Ministry promising to investigate the causes of their deaths. The director of confinement at Estância Monte Alegre, André Perrone, reported that the cattle returned to their facility on the night of October 4th. They received veterinary care, food, and hydration as part of their recovery process.

The incident highlights the logistics and professionalism involved in cattle exportation. According to Perrone, the situation emphasizes the structural readiness for handling such crises in cattle farming, showcasing the importance of proper management and veterinary support in ensuring the well-being of livestock during transportation and unexpected events.
