Accident between school bus and truck leaves injured in the Sertão region of PB

An accident involving a school bus and a truck in the Sertão region of Paraíba resulted in injuries to several individuals, primarily students.

An accident occurred between a school bus transporting students to the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) and a truck loaded with corn in the Sertão region of Paraíba, Brazil. According to the Fire Department, the collision took place as the truck was heading to Patos, resulting in both vehicles veering off the road. A passenger car that was following behind the bus was also involved, although its two occupants were unharmed.

Among the nine people on the school bus, eight were UFCG students and one was the driver. One student suffered a head injury and was taken to the Regional Hospital of Sousa, while the other six students were treated for minor injuries at the Regional Hospital of Pombal. Thankfully, all injured individuals have since been discharged from medical care. Emergency responders, including the Military Police and Federal Highway Police, attended the scene, and the Fire Department handled the rescue operations and clearing of the road.

The exact causes of the accident are under investigation, highlighting concerns regarding road safety in the region, particularly for transport vehicles carrying students. This incident draws attention to the importance of stringent safety measures and awareness of road conditions, especially in rural areas where such accidents can have serious implications for the community and local educational institutions.
