The Baltic Military Sports Winter Games kicked off on Thursday in Narva, marking the 12th edition of this event. Over the next two days, the event aims to unite military forces and youth leaders from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden. During the opening ceremony, General Lieutenant Andrus Merilo emphasized the importance of physical activity in military life, stating that these games provide an excellent opportunity for regional military representatives to strengthen allied relationships while competing in various sports.

Competitors will participate in a range of athletic events, including cross-country skiing, ice hockey, and sport fishing. In addition, the games feature cross-disciplinary competitions like CrossFit and Hyrox, where participants navigate an eight-part course that tests their strength and endurance through diverse challenges such as skiing, rowing on ergometers, pushing sleds, and carrying kettlebells. This format not only showcases physical prowess but also fosters camaraderie among the troops across the Baltic region.
