The 6th edition of the Elas Bulletin reveals that over 150,000 companies in Maranhão, Brazil, are led by women, with significant representation in both the capital São Luís and various interior municipalities.

The latest report from the Junta Comercial do Estado do Maranhão (Jucema), known as the 6th edition of the Elas Bulletin, highlights the critical role of women in the state's entrepreneurial landscape by noting that more than 150,000 companies are led by women. This significant figure indicates that women are increasingly taking the helm in business across Maranhão, particularly in urban centers like São Luís, but also in smaller towns such as Imperatriz, Timon, Balsas, Caxias, and Santa Inês.

The report, which coincides with International Women's Day celebrated on March 8, marks an important initiative by Jucema to recognize and promote female participation in the business sector. It reveals that women now comprise about 40% of the ownership structure in Maranhão, representing a major shift in the local business environment. With 174,440 companies having female involvement in their ownership, it underscores the growing impact of women in driving economic activity in the region.

Additionally, the data indicates a marked increase in the number of new businesses being established by women, showcasing their commitment to entrepreneurship. The positive trajectory highlighted in the bulletin suggests that as women continue to break barriers and engage in business, they contribute significantly to economic growth and innovation in Maranhão, paving the way for future generations of female entrepreneurs.
