It has requested the prosecutor's office to begin criminal proceedings against a Latvian citizen accused of unlawfully influencing the choices of several voters during the municipal elections held last year. This investigation stems from actions reported around June 7, where the state police started a criminal process against a suspect on the day of the elections, later transferring the investigation to the VDD.

The investigation discovered that the individual purportedly influenced voters by transporting them to polling stations in his private vehicle and improperly filling out ballots on their behalf. Furthermore, he was accused of accompanying at least one voter to the polling place and deceitfully instructing them on whom to vote for, thereby infringing on the integrity of the democratic process. Although the candidates the accused was promoting were not elected to the Cēsis City Council, the case underscores serious concerns about electoral misconduct in local governance.
