Project brings Piauí artists together in celebration of Women's Day in Teresina; entry is 2 kg of food
A cultural project in Teresina, Brazil, is hosting a special event to honor local women artists in music and poetry, with a social entrance fee of 2 kg of food.
The cultural project 'O Poeta e sua Hora' is organizing a special edition event in Teresina on March 6, 2023, to celebrate the contributions of Piauí women in music and poetry, coinciding with the lead-up to International Women's Day on March 8. This celebration takes place at the Cultural Space Casa de Soraya and invites attendees to contribute by bringing two kilograms of food as admission, thereby combining art with social responsibility.
This event aims to recognize and highlight the work of local female artists who make a significant impact on the cultural landscape of the state of Piauí. The evening's program includes poetry performances and readings by notable local artists such as Fernanda Paz, Laís Romero, Phoema Lima, Shirley Bragança, and Will de Oliveira, who is a state champion in spoken poetry from 2025. These performances are designed to celebrate not only their individual talents but also their collective contribution to the cultural identity of the region.
Additionally, the evening will feature a performance by the band Os Faustinos, adding a musical element to the tribute. This initiative underscores the importance of supporting local talent and fostering a sense of community engagement, especially in the context of celebrating women's contributions in the arts, aligning with broader global themes of empowerment and recognition of women's rights.
