Capital Region Light Rail Opens 17 New Stations in August

The Capital Region Light Rail will open 17 new stations in August, expanding its service to encompass a total of 29 stations across 28 kilometers.

The Capital Region Light Rail in Denmark is set to expand its operations by opening 17 new stations this August, significantly enhancing its infrastructure and service coverage. This expansion is a continuation of the light rail's first phase, which commenced in the fall of 2025, originally launching 12 stations between Ishøj and Rødovre Nord. With this new addition, passengers will be able to travel the entire route from Ishøj to Lundtofte north of Lyngby.

Owned by the Capital Region of Denmark and 11 municipalities, including Ishøj, Vallensbæk, and Hvidovre, the light rail system aims to improve public transportation within the region. The introduction of these new stations is expected to provide greater accessibility for residents and commuters, facilitating easier travel throughout the area. The expansion reflects ongoing efforts to enhance urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in Greater Copenhagen.

Moreover, this development not only represents a significant investment in public transit but also promotes a more sustainable approach to transportation in the region. By encouraging public transport use, the Capital Region Light Rail plays a crucial role in reducing the environmental impact of commuting and promoting a more eco-friendly future for urban mobility in Denmark.
