Woman's body is rescued after being trapped in the wreckage of a truck that fell off a wooden bridge into a river in MT

A woman’s body was recovered after becoming trapped in a truck's cabin that fell off a wooden bridge into the Rio Corgão in Brazil.

On Tuesday, a woman's body was discovered after she became trapped in the wreckage of a truck that had plunged off a wooden bridge into the Rio Corgão, located near Vila Rica, approximately 1,276 kilometers from Cuiabá. The truck was carrying various items including cement, salt, gas cylinders, and goods intended for a local market. The driver managed to escape before the vehicle submerged in the river.

Rescue teams were alerted at around 8 AM and arrived at the scene where they found the half-submerged truck, with its wheels upturned. Initial attempts to dive and retrieve the victim were hindered by the vehicle's precarious position and challenging conditions in the river, which included murky water and mud that made safe extraction impossible.

As conditions worsened, rescue teams called for the assistance of an excavator that was already in the area for maintenance work. This equipment became crucial in safely dislodging the woman’s body from the cabin of the truck. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing, and the victim's identity has not been released.
