A concrete bridge in Rio Negro, Brazil, collapsed, leaving a truck suspended, after heavy rainfall compromised its structure and highlighted existing damage.
On February 22, a concrete bridge known as the Bridge of Rio do Peixe in Rio Negro, Mato Grosso do Sul, collapsed, leaving a truck hanging precariously. The structure had been under observation by Civil Defense since it began experiencing damage following heavy rains that occurred twenty days prior. The rains had led to the deterioration of the bridge's abutments, raising concerns about its stability but were only exacerbated by further inclement weather.
