Teder and Gustavson finish 11th at Junior World Championships
Estonian Nordic combined athletes Ruubert Teder and Fred Gustavson secured an 11th place finish in the pairs competition at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer.
Estonian athletes Ruubert Teder and Fred Gustavson participated in the Junior World Championships held in Lillehammer, finishing in 11th place in the pairs competition. Teder achieved a jump of 84.5 meters, earning 105.0 points, while Gustavson recorded a distance of 85 meters with 92.6 points. This resulted in a total of 197.6 points, placing them in 10th position after the jump round before moving to the cross-country segment.
During the cross-country portion, where both athletes had to complete a distance of 7.5 kilometers, they were overtaken by a Finnish duo, ultimately securing the 11th place. The winning German pair, consisting of Jonathan GrΓ€bert and Felix Brieden, finished 2 minutes and 28.2 seconds ahead of Teder and Gustavson. Despite the strong performance in the jump, the Estonian duo could not maintain their position during the cross-country race, which was critical for their overall ranking.
In addition to this competition, other events were held on Wednesday, including the 10+10 km ski relay for junior competitors, where Estonian athletes did not achieve notable placements. Stefan Kivil finished 43rd, Oskar Lehto 51st, Juss Leiner 57th, and Igor Snitsarenko 84th, while Herta Rajas, the only female competitor from Estonia, finished in 46th place. These results illustrate the challenges faced by Estonian athletes in maintaining competitiveness at the junior international level.
