They will be able to return from the UAE to Poland. Radosław Sikorski: Only 57 people were selected
Poland's Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced that 57 individuals stranded in the United Arab Emirates will be repatriated home, with travel arrangements being made.
On March 4, during a press conference, Radosław Sikorski revealed that he had received the latest special report regarding the consular situation in the Middle East. The Polish Foreign Ministry has identified 57 Polish citizens in the United Arab Emirates who are eligible to return to Poland. This announcement comes as Polish authorities strive to facilitate the repatriation of nationals abroad amidst ongoing challenges.
Minister Sikorski highlighted that on the previous Tuesday, there were three flights from the UAE to Poland, and on the day of the announcement, travel agencies, which have a legal obligation to assist, arranged ten new flights for citizens returning from the Emirates, departing from two airports in Oman. This initiative shows the proactive measures being taken to assist Polish citizens who found themselves in need of help during their stay in these regions.
Furthermore, Sikorski mentioned that the UAE authorities are also participating in organizing these travel efforts, indicating a cooperative relationship between Poland and the UAE regarding the safety and well-being of Polish nationals. The focus seems to be on maximizing the number of flights available for these citizens, illustrating the Polish government’s commitment to ensuring their safe return to the country, not just to Warsaw but potentially to other destinations as well.
