Wood-furniture, finishing turnover exceeds 4.3 billion with exports growing by 11%

The finishing sector in construction is projected to generate over 4.3 billion euros in revenue in 2025, driven by a stable domestic market and an 11% increase in exports.

By 2025, the finishing sector for construction in Italy is expected to generate a substantial revenue of over 4.3 billion euros, reflecting a slight growth of 0.4% compared to 2024. The domestic market, which constitutes 90% of the total revenue, remains relatively stable with a minor decline of 0.6%, valued at about 3.9 billion euros. This stability occurs despite a reduction in fiscal incentives, indicating a resilience in local demand for finishing products.

Conversely, the export market is witnessing impressive growth, reaching 455 million euros with an 11% increase. This upward trend spans across various segments, particularly in internal doors and wooden flooring, which are showing dynamic performance in foreign markets. France retains its position as the primary foreign market for construction finishes, while the United States is emerging as the second most significant destination, reflecting the growing importance of North American markets for Italian exports.

However, there is a marked decline in exports to China, which has fallen out of the top ten markets for the sector, signaling a potential shift in global trade dynamics. The United Arab Emirates has stepped in to fill the void left by China, indicating a diversification of export destinations. This scenario emphasizes the ongoing evolution of the construction finishing sector and highlights the critical role of foreign markets in sustaining growth despite challenges in domestic incentives.
