Asso.subsea signs deal for construction of new generation TSV
Asso.subsea of Greece has signed a contract for the construction of 'Andromeda', a new generation Trenching Support Vessel designed for complex offshore energy projects.
Asso.subsea, a Greek maritime company, has secured a significant contract for the construction of the 'Andromeda', a cutting-edge Trenching Support Vessel (TSV). This vessel will be built at the China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) shipyard in Shenzhen, further solidifying the strategic partnership established between the two entities. This project represents a continuation of Asso.subsea’s commitment to strengthening its operations in the offshore energy sector.
The 'Andromeda' is designed to be a highly capable vessel, featuring a 24 MW hybrid propulsion system and a dual standby DP-2 design, making it one of the most powerful TSVs available. Its unique features allow it to deploy two trenching vehicles simultaneously, enhancing operational efficiency. Additionally, it will be equipped with dual work decks and the capability to install a 4,000-ton carousel, which emphasizes its role in handling advanced offshore energy projects.
Scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2028, the construction of the 'Andromeda' aligns with Asso.subsea's strategy to expand its presence in the complex offshore energy market. This investment is not just about acquiring a new vessel but signifies the company’s commitment to enhancing its technological capabilities and operational reach in the face of increasing demands in the energy sector, particularly in complex and challenging environments.
