Another ship is being built by Asso.subsea
Asso.subsea has signed a contract for the construction of the 'Andromeda', a next-generation Trenching Support Vessel (TSV) set to enhance their strategic partnership with China Merchants Heavy Industry in Shenzhen.
Asso.subsea, a Greek company led by CEO Alexandros Tziotakis, has announced the signing of a construction contract for a new Trenching Support Vessel named 'Andromeda'. This vessel will serve as a sister ship to the already under-construction 'Avra', bolstering Asso.subsea's strategy in offshore energy projects. The agreement was activated through an option included in the initial contract, highlighting the evolving nature of their collaboration with China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI), a major shipyard located in Shenzhen, China.
The 'Andromeda' is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2028, featuring a 24 MW hybrid propulsion system and a DP-2 dynamic positioning design, categorizing it among the most powerful vessels of its kind. Its capabilities allow for the simultaneous operation of two trenching vehicles, alongside dual working decks and the potential for installing a 4,000-ton carousel, marking a significant advancement in the technological capabilities offered by Asso.subsea within complex offshore projects.
This investment underscores Asso.subsea's commitment to enhancing its presence in intricate offshore energy ventures, reflecting a broader trend of increasing reliance on specialized vessels for energy infrastructure development. The strategic partnership with CMHI is particularly noteworthy as it not only supports the construction of advanced maritime technologies but also strengthens ties between Greece and China in the shipbuilding industry.
