The Government approved L. Talat-Kelpša's appointment as ambassador to the Netherlands
The Lithuanian government approved L. Talat-Kelpša's appointment as the new ambassador to the Netherlands, effective April 13.
The Lithuanian government has given its approval for L. Talat-Kelpša to assume the role of ambassador to the Netherlands, with his appointment set to take effect on April 13. Prior to this, Talat-Kelpša served as the director of policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since August 2024, showcasing a robust background in diplomatic service across multiple countries including the Czech Republic, India, and Georgia.
Throughout his career, Talat-Kelpša has held various significant positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He previously contributed to the presidential administration under President Valdas Adamkus and served as an advisor on foreign policy to Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius. His extensive experience equips him well for his new role, indicating a continuity in Lithuania's diplomatic relations and strategies, particularly within the European context.
Currently, the Lithuanian embassy in the Netherlands is managed by Minister Plenipotentiary Andrius Namavičius. The appointment procedure involves the president of Lithuania appointing and dismissing ambassadors based on recommendations from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the approval of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Seimas (Parliament) and the government, highlighting the collaborative political framework guiding diplomatic appointments in Lithuania.
