O’Leary's sports bars have moved to Lithuanian hands

Apollo Group has sold O’Leary's sports bars to a Lithuanian company led by Alvydas Donėla.

Apollo Group has divested its ownership of O’Leary's sports bars, selling them to Lithuanian entrepreneur Alvydas Donėla. The sale, which occurred at the end of last year, places O’Leary's under OÜ APL Restoranide, a company owned by Donėla's Action Group UAB. This business maneuver comes as Donėla has been at the helm of O’Leary's operations in the Baltic region since 2020, suggesting a continuity in leadership despite the change in ownership.

O’Leary's is a franchise originating from Sweden, recognized for Boston-American-style sports bars and restaurants, with over 105 locations worldwide, including Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The menu prominently features American and Tex-Mex influenced cuisine, appealing to a diverse clientele interested in sports and entertainment dining experiences. The brand's presence in Estonia includes locations in major shopping centers like those in Tartu, Tallinn, and Riga.

This change in ownership indicates a shift in the regional market for hospitality and entertainment, potentially enhancing the business’s local responsiveness while continuing to expand its footprint. With a notable market presence, O’Leary's might expect to optimize its operations under new leadership, catering to an audience that values both sports and culinary diversity in vibrant urban environments.
