A report highlights a troubling increase in violence against elderly women in Sweden, with many feeling ashamed to report their experiences.
A recent report by SKPF, an organization representing retirees in Sweden, indicates a significant rise in violence and abuse against elderly women. Approximately 8% of the 2,500 surveyed members reported that they or someone close to them had faced violence, threats, or abuse after the age of 60. This situation is compounded by the fact that many victims are financially or practically dependent on their abusers, making it difficult to seek help or escape.
