The Weather Will Warm Up This Weekend – Snow Showers Expected
Temperatures in Finland are set to rise this weekend, with forecasted snow showers potentially impacting holiday travel.
The Finnish meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander reports that temperatures will begin to warm up over the weekend, making for a significant shift in weather conditions. As warm air moves in from the west, snow showers are expected to arrive over Finland, with predictions regarding their exact locations and paths remaining uncertain. This incoming weather could affect travel plans, particularly for those returning from ski holidays.
In the immediate forecast, light snow is anticipated in Southern and Southwestern Finland as well as Central Lapland on Thursday, while the majority of the country will experience a dry and partly cloudy day with temperatures ranging between -10 to -20 degrees Celsius. However, as a low-pressure system approaches from the east on Friday, snow is expected to set in over North Karelia and possibly across eastern Finland, while other areas will remain dry and see a slightly more temperate day overall.
As the weekend progresses, temperatures are predicted to warm up further, with Saturday bringing milder weather to the southern parts of the country. The warming trend could lead to more unstable conditions, affecting snow quality and travel during the holiday season. Those in the Northern regions may still experience colder conditions but a respite from the harshest of the winter chill is on the horizon for the majority of Finland.
