On Wednesday, Lithuania's Special Investigation Service (STT) announced that a memorandum has been signed to establish a regional and permanent anti-corruption platform aimed at protecting European Union and national funds designated for Ukraine's recovery efforts. This platform will also include participation as observers from Poland's central anti-corruption bureau, emphasizing collaboration in the fight against corruption in relation to aid destined for Ukraine.

The initiative stems from discussions held during a high-level meeting of anti-corruption institutions from the Baltic states last year, where Ukraine participated as a guest. The discussions focused on how the Baltic countries can assist Ukraine by sharing knowledge and experience, while also strengthening regional cooperation in ensuring security and transparency. This collaboration aims to bolster the response to corruption risks associated with the influx of funds for reconstruction.

The establishment of this platform signifies a proactive step by Lithuania and its Baltic partners to enhance oversight and accountability in managing foreign assistance for Ukraine. By fostering regional collaboration, the initiative not only aims to protect funds but also to reinforce the commitment of neighboring countries to support Ukraine amidst ongoing challenges.
