Rail Baltic builders have begun clearing the area of the Pärnu passenger terminal
Builders of the Rail Baltic project have commenced clearing the area for the future Pärnu passenger terminal, with construction expected to begin next year.
The construction team for the Rail Baltic project has initiated clearing efforts in the area designated for the Pärnu passenger terminal. The clearing works are focused on a segment of approximately 2.5 kilometers this week, and the project manager, Märt Maadla, announced plans to issue the terminal construction tender during the summer, with the aim of starting construction next year. This marks a significant step in advancing the Rail Baltic project's infrastructure in Estonia.
Märt Maadla emphasized that they are undertaking the clearing activities with minimal environmental impact, stating they will preserve green areas and those trees identified for replanting as per dendrological studies. The clearing extends from the Papiniidu bridge to the Paide highway, and while access to the area remains open to the public, safety precautions have been advised to keep a safe distance from the working machinery.
The clearing operations are expected to last up to two weeks, during which geological surveys and preparations for railway bridge construction will also take place. The establishment of the Pärnu passenger terminal is a crucial component of the broader Rail Baltic project, aimed at improving connectivity across the Baltic states and enhancing travel for residents and visitors alike.
