FRSC warns against speeding as two die in Rivers road crash
The Federal Road Safety Corps has issued a warning against speeding following a crash in Rivers State that resulted in two fatalities.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has responded to a fatal car accident that occurred at the Rumuola junction in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, which claimed two lives. The crash happened early on Monday morning involving individuals returning from a nightclub. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed on a mostly deserted road and failed to navigate the roundabout properly, leading to the tragic incident.
Sources revealed that the vehicle's driver was unable to control the speed while approaching the roundabout, which resulted in the collision. Tragically, one of the passengers died as a direct result of the crash, while another individual was struck by an oncoming vehicle after returning to the wreckage to retrieve something. Such circumstances underline the severe risks associated with reckless driving, particularly in the context of nightlife activities when individuals are less likely to make safe driving choices.
In light of this incident, the Rivers State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Umoh Inyang, emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and exercising caution while driving, particularly at intersections. This warns all motorists about the dangers of speeding and highlights the need for greater responsibility on the roads, especially during late-night hours when accidents like this can occur more frequently.
