Sniffer dogs discover 120 kg of cocaine hidden in an iron ore load

A truck driver was arrested in Brazil after being caught transporting around 120 kg of cocaine hidden under a load of iron ore.

In Brazil, a truck driver, aged 42, was arrested when approximately 120 kilograms of cocaine were discovered concealed beneath a load of iron ore. The incident occurred on the BR-262 highway in Terenos, where Federal Highway Patrol (PRF) agents observed inconsistencies in the driver's statements regarding his journey. This prompted a thorough inspection of the vehicle.

Utilizing sniffer dogs, officers uncovered numerous packages of cocaine hidden beneath the truck's cargo floor, beneath the iron ore load. Given the complexity of the concealment, the truck was taken to a nearby sand pit where the iron ore was offloaded using a front loader, allowing police to retrieve the illicit drugs. The driver later confirmed the drug's origins from Corumbá with São Paulo as the intended destination.

This incident highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Brazil, particularly the sophisticated methods used to smuggle narcotics. The PRF's effective use of sniffer dogs played a crucial role in uncovering the hidden drugs, underscoring the importance of vigilance and thorough inspections in combating drug-related crimes.
