The National Center for Innovation, Creativity, and Finance is a new institutional complex designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in Taipei, aiming to enhance public space and serve as a technological reference for the city.
Located in the heart of the Beimen district, the National Center for Innovation, Creativity, and Finance is a new institutional complex designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, in collaboration with C. Y. Lee & Partners. This ambitious project emerged from the international competition Western Gateway and aspires to improve public spaces within the capital of Taiwan, integrating modern design into a historical context. The complex spans 175,727 square meters and reorders functions of the national financial system within a vibrant urban fabric characterized by pedestrian activity and historical heritage.
The intervention is strategically placed at the intersection of Zhongxiao West Road and Bo’ai Road, facilitating connections with prominent nearby structures such as the central train station, the historic post office building, and the Beimen Gate Railway Museum. The design emphasis lies on accessibility and spatial continuity, creating a harmonious interaction between plazas, courtyards, and pathways. This thoughtful urban integration aims to enhance the city's accessibility while preserving its historical narrative.
As a significant contribution to Taipei's urban landscape, the complex not only addresses contemporary needs but also reflects the evolving identity of the city. By fostering innovation and creativity, it positions itself as a key player in the future development of Taiwan's capital, potentially attracting businesses and tourists alike, and promoting a blend of cultural and economic growth.
