The owner of Zara is building a new headquarters next to a brutalist monument
Inditex, the Spanish clothing giant, is moving forward with its plans to relocate some offices to a new site near Barcelona, adjacent to a historic power plant undergoing revitalization.
Inditex, the parent company of Zara, is in the process of realizing its long-anticipated plan to move part of its offices to a new location. The new headquarters will be situated in Sant Adrià del Besòs, an industrial town just north of Barcelona, right next to a well-known brutalist building, the former power plant known as Les Tres Xemeneies, which is also undergoing revitalization. This move follows the company's operations in over 200 countries and reflects its growing influence in the global fashion market.
The site selected for the new campus is strategically located at the border of Badalona and provides an exciting backdrop of cultural significance with the adjoining historic structure, which is expected to be transformed into a cultural center. Inditex's decision to relocate from Tordera, over 60 kilometers from Barcelona, indicates a shift towards more urban settings that could foster better collaboration among its brands, such as Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho, and Lefties, which are also part of the Inditex family.
This development not only marks a significant logistical shift for Inditex but also underscores the company's ongoing efforts to modernize its operations and be part of urban regeneration initiatives. The revitalization of the area around the brutalist monument may draw increased attention to the industrial heritage of the region and enhance its appeal as a cultural and commercial hub, benefitting both Inditex and the local community.
