Ukrainian Defense Industry in Estonia: In Ukraine, it is only possible to tackle one problem at a time, as the situation at the front changes every few months
Teletactica, a Ukrainian defense contractor, highlights the challenges of providing communication systems for drones in a rapidly changing battlefield situation.
Teletactica, one of the many Ukrainian defense industry companies that have recently established operations in Estonia, focuses on developing communication systems for drones and other unmanned platforms. As the combat situation in Ukraine changes frequently, with one party switching off Starlink and the other employing electronic warfare tactics, Teletactica's solutions have become increasingly relevant. Their systems ensure that drones can continue relaying images and maintaining communication with their teams, even amid enemy jamming attempts.
The communication technology developed by Teletactica allows for operations up to 100-200 kilometers away from the frontline. Unlike Starlink, which is a satellite-based system, Teletactica's product operates on a point-to-point principle, connecting the drone to a ground station directly. This distinction means that while it is not an alternative to satellite systems like Starlink, it serves as a complementary solution for military operations needing reliable communication under challenging conditions. Teletactica's CEO, Jevhen Žebko, emphasized this point during an interview, showcasing the strategic importance of their technology in modern warfare.
As conflicts evolve, the ability to maintain communication and control over drones becomes crucial for operational success. Teletactica’s presence in Estonia not only reflects the broader trend of Ukrainian defense firms expanding internationally but also highlights Estonia's role as a supportive environment for such initiatives. The company’s advancements come at a critical time when battlefield communications are put to the test, thereby shaping the dynamics of contemporary military engagements.
