Meat Prices Fluctuate at the Start of the Week in the Cañuelas Agro-Livestock Market
The Cañuelas Agro-Livestock Market saw fluctuating meat prices this week, with notable trends in the pricing of various cattle types.
This week at the Cañuelas Agro-Livestock Market (MAG), 9,497 cattle were brought in from 252 livestock trucks. The prices fluctuated, with the General Index dropping by 1.09% to $3,760.684, while the Steer Index marked a slight increase of 0.14% to $4,503.682. The demand remained steady for general cattle, with only higher-quality groups seeing price gains.
Specifically, steers represented 14.58% of the total sales, with significant prices noted at $5,000 for 432 kg and others priced around $4,800 for weights between 525 kg and 529 kg. Also, the prices for the best cows were recorded at $4,800 for 466 kg and $4,400 for 497 kg. Lighter cattle lots, such as young steers, fetched higher prices, reaching $5,800 for 308 kg, indicating a strong market demand for quality livestock despite the overall index drop.
These developments reflect ongoing market dynamics influenced by supply and demand factors, feeding into the agricultural economy of Argentina. Farmers and sellers in the agro-livestock sector should possibly adjust strategies based on these price movements to optimize their sales and profits in an environment subject to fluctuation.
