The Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), led by director Zóe Robledo, has announced a major recruitment effort to hire 9,805 medical specialists to address ongoing shortages in healthcare services. This initiative was revealed during a morning conference with President Claudia Sheinbaum, emphasizing the urgent need for more medical professionals in the IMSS system. The recruitment period commenced on March 2 and will conclude on March 13, inviting qualified candidates to apply through an official IMSS online platform.
The announcement highlights the types of specialists being sought, which include positions such as family medicine doctors, pediatricians, obstetricians-gynecologists, and other essential medical roles. Specifically, the IMSS aims to fill 1,662 family medicine slots, 1,136 for pediatrics, 981 for gynecology and obstetrics, and other critical areas such as internal medicine, emergency medicine, and general surgery. This recruitment drive reflects the IMSS's commitment to enhancing healthcare access and quality in Mexico, amid growing demands for specialized care.
Those interested in applying must create an account on the IMSS recruitment website, where they will be required to provide an email address and password to access further details of the application process. This initiative not only represents a significant opportunity for medical professionals in the country but also underscores the ongoing challenges faced by public health institutions in effectively staffing their facilities to meet the needs of the population, particularly in underserved regions.
