IMSS will vaccinate against measles for everyone, whether or not they are insured: Zoé Robledo
The head of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, announced that everyone can receive the measles vaccine at IMSS facilities, regardless of their insurance status.
Zoé Robledo, the General Director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), has announced that anyone in Mexico can receive the measles vaccine at any of the IMSS modules without needing to have insurance. This move aims to increase vaccination rates and ensure public health, particularly as the country has seen an increase in vaccination coverage. Robledo highlighted that the universal vaccination program is open to all, emphasizing that access to health services is not contingent on insurance status.
In a recent interview with MILENIO Televisión, Robledo mentioned that the IMSS has already administered approximately 14 million vaccines across the country from February 2025 to 2026, with over 4 million doses being distributed by the IMSS alone. He encouraged parents to ensure their children receive the necessary vaccinations starting from six months old, which is essential in preventing future outbreaks of measles. The incremental approach to vaccination is seen as crucial in maintaining public health and addressing potential measles resurgence in the population.
The IMSS has made substantial efforts to make the vaccination process convenient, with most vaccination centers operating from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Robledo urged everyone interested in getting vaccinated to visit the IMSS website for more information on locations and schedules. This initiative not only aims to reduce the risk of measles infection but also reflects the Mexican government's commitment to enhancing public health and ensuring that every child has access to vaccinations, regardless of their health insurance status.
