São Pedro da Aldeia, located in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro, has launched a weekly dog and cat adoption fair that takes place every Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM. This initiative aims to enhance animal protection policies in the municipality and to encourage responsible adoption of pets. The event is held in a parking area alongside the RJ-140 highway and is organized by the NGO UZCA (Unit of Zoonoses, Sterilization, and Animal Care).

The fair not only provides a platform for animals awaiting homes to gain visibility but also fosters collaboration between public authorities, civil society, and independent animal protectors. The organization encourages animal protectors who wish to participate in the fair to notify them in advance and express their interest in showcasing animals for adoption. Each protector is responsible for the animals they present and must remain at the location throughout the event.
