INEC promotes 2,339 staff, including 45 to director level
The Independent National Electoral Commission in Nigeria has promoted 2,339 staff members, highlighting its focus on career advancement and stability within the institution.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made a significant step in promoting its workforce as part of its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise. At the commission's recent meeting held on February 26, 2026, the organization approved the promotion of a total of 2,339 employees, which reflects its dedication to fostering career progression and maintaining institutional continuity and stability. This initiative was officially communicated through a statement from Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi in Abuja.
Among the promotions, 45 Deputy Directors have been elevated to the director level, where 18 will remain in active service, while the remaining 27 are approaching retirement as per public service regulations. Additionally, the exercise included the advancement of 91 Assistant Directors to Deputy Director positions, and 82 Chief Officers transitioned to Assistant Directors. Moreover, a significant number of intermediate officers, specifically 2,121 individuals across Grade Levels 07 to 13, were also promoted, highlighting the expansive scope of this promotion exercise.
This promotion exercise is not just an administrative change; it underscores INEC's ongoing commitment to developing its human resources and ensuring a stable workforce.
