The US and Israel's Operation Against Iran is Understandable, Says Rinkēvičs

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs stated that the military operation by the US and Israel against Iran is understandable due to Iran's long-standing actions in the region.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs addressed the press regarding the military operation conducted by the United States and Israel against Iran, asserting its comprehensibility in light of Iran's prolonged behavior in the region. He highlighted key concerns such as Iran's disregard for UN Security Council resolutions, its non-cooperation on nuclear non-proliferation issues, and its support for terrorist organizations as fundamental justifications for the operation.

Rinkēvičs indicated that diplomatic measures could only be considered once Iran commits to ending any plans for developing a military nuclear program and ceases its aggressive regional foreign policy. He warns that the ongoing escalation poses risks not just to global economic stability but also to regional security, emphasizing the necessity for a strategic and peaceful resolution to the situation.

Moreover, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reportedly working on solutions to assist any Latvian citizens who might need to return home during this period of heightened tensions. However, Rinkēvičs noted that, at present, effective means to facilitate these evacuations are not in place, further complicating an already tense geopolitical landscape.
