FUnATI presents a comedy about autonomy, beauty, and active aging in Manaus

FUnATI is hosting a theatrical performance focusing on autonomy and active aging in Manaus, highlighting the importance of cultural engagement for seniors.

The FUnATI, or Fundação Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade, in Manaus is set to showcase a comedic play titled 'Foram Felizes Para Sempre' on the 4th and 5th of March. This performance is staged by the Teatro Renascer Izael Tavares group and aims to entertain while gently addressing themes of autonomy, beauty, and the importance of active aging. The play takes an engaging approach to familiar fairy tales and will take place in a welcoming setting that encourages participation from the elderly community.

The narrative follows Marli, a septuagenarian who often feels neglected and longs for her family's affection. A transformative experience within the story encourages her to change her perspective on life. According to Lilian Machado, the director of the play, this kind of storytelling not only entertains but also educates by providing insights into the lives of the elderly, making it a vital part of the cultural agenda at FUnATI.

Euler Ribeiro, the university's rector, emphasizes that highlighting the talents and experiences of older individuals in the arts and performances fosters a healthier aging process. By creating spaces for seniors to engage with music, dance, and theater, FUnATI aims to enrich their lives and encourage an active lifestyle, thus making a significant contribution to the well-being of the elderly in the community.
