Army debunks ambush, highlights successes against terrorists
The Nigerian military has refuted claims by Boko Haram and ISWAP that they can still launch attacks, emphasizing their successes in combating these groups.
The Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, part of Nigeria's military operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP, has publicly dismissed recent claims made by these terrorist groups suggesting they are capable of launching new attacks on Nigerian troops and civilians. In a statement released on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer, addressed the ongoing propaganda efforts by the remnants of these groups, which involve circulating outdated photographs and misleading media reports aimed at instilling fear and uncertainty in the public.
The statement pointed out that some of the circulated materials, including a report from July 2020 depicting supposed casualties from an ambush on Nigerian soldiers, were misleadingly resurrected to create a false narrative of ongoing threats. The Joint Task Force emphasized the importance of factual reporting and reassured the public of their operational successes and the current security situation, aiming to counteract the narrative pushed by these terrorist factions and reassure the populace about the military's ongoing efforts to ensure safety and security
By refuting these claims, the Joint Task Force not only aims to restore public confidence but also seeks to undermine the efforts of terrorist organizations to project an image of strength and operational capability. This addresses concerns regarding the resilience of these groups and highlights the military’s resolve in maintaining peace and security in the region, ultimately fostering a perception of stability amidst the challenges posed by insurgent activities.
