Nigerian troops successfully thwarted an attack by Boko Haram on a military base in Yobe State.
Troops from the Joint Task Force (North-East), known as Operation Hadin Kai, were able to repel an attack by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists on a military formation located in Goniri, Yobe State. The attack, which occurred during the night of March 8 into the early hours of March 9, 2026, saw insurgents launching simultaneous assaults from multiple directions in an attempt to overwhelm the military's defenses. According to Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, the insurgents aimed to breach troop positions but were met with coordinated resistance and defensive strategies from the military.
